Lakewood Farm and Zoo is the 12th property in Holland, Michigan, to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ever wonder what makes a certain property historic and how it comes to be listed on the National Register?

Author, historic, and museum exhibit designer Valerie van Heest will share the process of how she, on behalf of the Historic Ottawa Beach Society and the property owners, nominated this former, famous Farm and zoo and some of the surprises that she encountered in the process.

And you’ll learn how the information contained in the nomination became the basis for the “Holland’s Earliest Amusements” exhibit now on display at the PH Museum – and also for the “Lakewood Farm and Zoo book.”

Valerie will be available to sign books after the program.
